When NIIMS (late 70s) set out to create 3-letter designators nation-wide for federal land management agencies they agreed BIA administrative units would end in the letter ‘A’ (much like National Wildlife Refuges end in ‘R’ & BLM Districts end in ‘D’).
Firescope had already started to issue 3-letter identifiers to non-fed departments so for the most part the NIIMS 3-letter identifier system for Fed units doesn’t always “match up” in this GA.

My guess will be a fire in reservation land out in Thermal, CA. Probably Ave 66 x Hwy 86 area. Been having quite a few out there.

This is a BIA incident on the Torres Martinez Reservation. Chumash has been on a cover assignment in the Coachella Valley for BIA most of the summer. Not much information about it as this is not SRA so RRU closed their IA dispatch as soon as Fed resources went on scene.
