Question for the team. If Hollister is out of retardent, why not send S2’s to Santa Rosa??
Both bases closer air NM
Thanks Flapjack. that is a surprise to me. Learn something new everyday.
I’m going to guess HAAB will be replenished with retardant by tomorrow morning.
Also if the distance is a toss up, or close, Columbia or Paso would be easier for the pilot. There is some complex airspace between the fire and Santa Rosa that could create a higher work load for a single pilot aircraft.
Are you sure XAL-2870 C isn’t OES-2870 C
It is an OES st
It used to be 4 hrs from phone call to semi-truck pulling up to the silo at PRAAB when that happened. Montsano in Fresno always made a priority truck available.
Yes indeed. The current company (the company name is changing almost yearly now), formally called Monsanto, knows there is money to be made.
AA460 T79 T80 and 2 private copters (6LH, 1KA) are working the fire
Looks like Tankers 86, 104 are on it as well with T137 out of Santa Maria inbound.
AA505 has been on station for awhile with AA460
Any update on size?
There was talk of a Type I IMT being assigned to Crews Fire. Seen nothing more on that, neither cancellation, nor that they were still being assigned. Any update on that?
Cal Fire IMT 6 inbriefed at OES this morning
Per Cal Fire @ 1728
5400 Acres 20%Contained
Appropriate acreage count, as 5400 used to be SCU’s numbering system, prior to the current 1600 system. …sorry the way back machine is on today. I think Region 5 went away in the early '80’s.
I remember the old numbering system well. Started as a FF1 in Sunol in ‘83 in the 5400 era. Define irony!
Thanks for the update. They’re requesting a REMS team for today with a report time of 1800.
Wow! I did most of my time in the Alma Battalion, starting in 1979. I did a year as an LT FC at Sunol in ‘91. Thanks for the bio…
