CA-SDU-Border 2???

They also fired out and tied into Otay Lake. Lots of open line and the northern line is wide open. Hoping to lay down a lot of retardant as its threatening structures soon.

Can they use the road coming down from Doghouse Junction that goes down to the Glider / Aiport to backfire the northern side to close the back door?

That’s a potentially valuable tactic. I would just say that with 4% relative, humidity and potential for wind it might be something they would wanna hold off on introducing additional fire into the environment until conditions mitigate a little bit. And this is coming from a guy who routinely gets told “ No, you may not burn that” lol

Reminds me of the old Hotshot adage: Don’t climb up the Devil’s a$$h0le with a book of matches…

I can’t imagine ever having this aircraft lineup on a January fire 10 or even 5 years ago!

2003, 2007 at Hemet -Ryan we had every S-2 and S-2T, every OV-10, 10 CF Helicopters, 3 Bravo’s, 3 SEAT’s, 2 CL-14’s and a couple more I can’t remember. Oh yeah the infield had every kind of helicopter the NG had, plus all their ATV’s. Fun times. Huge ego’s to deal with.

This mountain is mostly a Rock-pile and steep, and very tough to build dozer line.

Whole mountain was buried off in 2003 by Battalion 3313 with 5 engines and two handcrews the same days of Cedar Fire.
Two airtankers made drops on the top repeater sites.

Wouldn’t hurt to repeat. I don’t think we had any requests from 13and Crandall that whole fire. Just took care of business. Not much there other than repeater site and whatever ICE has hidden in the brush
