IC just reported increasing activity on both:
Hambone: 15 acres
Lakin: 10 acres
Ordered 5 addl engines, 2 dozers + some water tenders (missed number).

AA just reported that all aircraft was off the Hambone fire…have not heard anything about the Lakin fire aircraft status

Hambone AA has been working both fires, only about 1.5 miles apart.

Turned around, I don’t think T40 got the hold in time, I heard on the Siskiyou channel somewhere else is ordering some LATs - and yeah, as I am typing, it’ll head to the River Complex.

So what’s up with this fire and the Hambone? The location puts them out in the middle of the lava fields. Anyone have info?

It’s lava interspersed with timber out there.
Update from yesterday morning from the Shasta-T:
Fire Update 8/7/21 9:45 AM
Firefighters are continuing suppression efforts on the two fires which began on the Shasta McCloud Management Unit (SMMU) of the [U.S. Forest Service - Shasta-Trinity National Forest] yesterday 8/6/21.
*[#HamboneFire]- Updated mapped acreage for this morning is 55 acres 13% contained. The fire burned actively through the night, however the Shasta Trinity NF Fire personnel along with our partners were able to get a hose line, handline and dozer line around the fire.
*[#LakinFire]- Updated mapped acreage is 22.5 acres. Fire personnel were able to get dozer line, handline and hose line around some portions of the fire.
Firefighters will continue suppression efforts today on both fires. We will continue to update as information becomes available.
