Last night’s IR, in Caltopo:
Check out the dust-nado go across the screen in the 15 min loop…some squirrely winds

From a buddy working the line, he sent a video with a new column standing up again. It’s seems to be making another run.
This looks like it’s right close to being inside the wilderness. I think we will continue to see flare ups within the containment lines high up on the mountain because of the wilderness boundaries and steep terrain. They may be fine with it burning up to the tree line too within the containment lines.
Helicopter down in lake Shastina pilot is on shore copter submerged.
MOD NOTE- This is confirmed at this time.
The following info was just tweeted by SHF.
A helicopter from the Lava Fire went down this afternoon. The cause is still under investigation. The pilot was able to walk away and is being assessed at this time. As we get more information, we will share it.
That is the plan
Thankful the Pilot was able to walk away
Yesterday around 3:30. Fire is working it’s way up to the tree line. Type 3 team took over the fire today.
I haven’t seen the ground to make that clear, just was a little concerned when I saw the heat this am about the potential of it squirting out to south or east. I am sure it will be fine and the IC is top notch, just seemed interesting.
Diller Canyon to the south is completely rocked out at the elevation the fire has reached. I haven’t seen the terrain to the north as much, but adding some bonus acreage definitely seems possible with the south winds they have been getting. I know they wanted some copters yesterday, but most had left for other fires.
Anyone heard of a possible containment date ?
