Vegetation fire 2 miles north of the town of French Gulch.
Looks to be in the Carr fire burn scar.
Firefighters are making access. 1/2 acre with a slow rate of spread burning uphill away from structures.
Airtac on scene 30 acres potential for 200
AA230 30-40 acres burning towards the ridge. Potential for 100-200 acres. AA has ordered 4 additional tankers and 2 additional copters.
Big wind shift
2018 Carr Fire got established here in similar terrain, but was burning in a 10 year-old burn scar vs. this one, which is 5 years old. Also, the Carr Fire reduced a huge amount of heavy dead and down brush and oak remaining after the 2008 fires. Post Carr Fire this area was pretty slicked-off.
Interesting similarities between portions of the Carr and Camp Fire scars which both burned in 2008 and 2018. I’ve been curious how soon either support another major fire.
Wind shifted, now its jumped another ridge. Interesting to watch
Looks like a dozer working up the right flank on the camera.
Per Cal Fire morning update the fire remains at 20 acres and is 40% contained.
