Final footprint 35 acres.
No April fool’s here!. Unfortunately, this was not a usual a " front country" fire in the ponderosa belt. Normal for this time of year…but… needle cast was NOT the carrier as is the norm. Brush and California grey pines were actively torching and spotting. It took 2 hours to hook this thing, with iron and the hawk.

Seeing a lot of Grey Pine mortality.Those are drought tolerant trees. All the Ponderosa in the Foothills look stressed with a lot of mortality there as well. Not a good sign of what is to come. Could be a rough year in the foothills…
