Looks like a fire on MT Shasta north side. Herd Peak 1 camera. I have been watching it for a while. Looks to be rolling out and moving down hill. I can’t find any information on it.

Dust or Ash blowing off Mt Shasta?

Any local intel from Mt Shasta as to what’s been happening with dust or ash blowing on the North slope in recent days? CalFireSKU has had the HERD PEAK 1 and LAKE SHASTINA zoomed in on the region for a several days, so it’s attracted someone’s attention. Quiet today with less wind, but it was much more visible yesterday. Is this a common occurrence, or something odd? Found some chatter (speculation) about it on "The Earth Master" Channel on YouTube beginning at the 14:20 mark. Thanks!

It’s been happening all summer when it gets windy. Dust coming off the mountain with recent glacier melt.

It is always possible that it is a rock slide, which often occur, it would be rare that SKU would take control of the camera and lock in on it

It definitely looks like an ongoing rockslide. You can see it move downslope from frame to frame.

Run the one hour time lapse and it is pretty apparent its dust. You can also watch the dust blowing down at the base of the mountain off to screen right.

Could be a debris flow from what’s left of the glaciers up there. In any case, looks like a bad day to be climbing the Hotlum-Bolam Ridge.
