Based on the flight paths I’d say you could be correct using prices right rules as well.

The 2 night helos have their work cut out for them.
0300 watching the McKittrick Summit North camera this thing is not slowing down. Over 35k acres in first burn period. Hoped overnight weather would slow it down, but not so. Team doesn’t in brief until 1800 today. Evac areas growing by the hour. Today will be a LONG day. The eastern most part of the fire looks as if it will burn to the valley floor.
My info source told me Kern is getting a pplan to stop this monster. In my opinion? It will run until there is no fuels left.
Fire movement like this now makes me reflect.. imo, this is partly why it is irresponsible & dangerous for “us” to be complaining or scolding Smokey Bear for 100% suppression. Especially in the dog days of a west coast summer. This, to me, is an example of why it is not even close to the “right answer” to let all fires (natural starts or otherwise) burn more “natural” when they occur. Fire in this neck of the woods does this. Some of the more recent fire scars are gigantic. The fire scars (before human record keeping) were even bigger. There should be no more surprises when it comes to fire behavior when it kicks into extreme mode. The rocket scientist / fire spread model people put a volcano on the far end of the hauling chart for a reason - it was not just for show!! Also, our “reaction” to the fire when it goes ballistic seems very antiquated in this moment to say the least & it has me wondering what/how that could be improved - or not - for the future. Sending tankers to this place or that place to re-load & setting up a camp in this other place while waiting for humans from different places to assemble etc. In this moment all that seems about as efficient as a ridgetop fire break. Times like this makes me wish humans lived in the ocean instead of the land. Also, the “nobody cares about whats burning our there mindset” needs to change - yes it has been said - thats why fires in the area are prioritized “lower” than other places when multiple fires are burning. To say that is to minimize any number of humans living the area - it also minimizes the value of our 1st responders who are showing up to fight fire/save lives etc. I’d sure like to see “us” change that mindset - especially those of “us” who are not in the arena and/or on the sidelines. End of rant..
Now, that’s a rant!
I kno, Sorry. Too much sweet tea yesterday…
Already pushing through the inversion

The T shirt vendors and everything that goes with them
AA07 looks to be up over the fire. Waiting to see who joins him.
What is the chance they Zone this and bring in a CF for the California Valley side?
Not knowing current resource orders it’s possible, but don’t think those decisions will come about until the team is in place tonight and comes up with a plan. For now I ‘think’ all resources no matter the agency will be placed by critical needs.
Caltopo gets the MODIS VIIRS scans 3 hours behind current perimeter.
If you check box History on the right column you can see very little fire history within the last 10-15 years.
Everything south of 7 mile road to hwy 166 and east to the Kern Co line is BLM dpa.
