Can they use dozers in there?
They Lima strike teams on soda lake road last night they ordered 4 dozers immediate need afternoon and a VNC lima is assigned
A Kmax just flew over the ranch with a bucket headed that way, N107MW.
H-520 & 41HX are now flying the fire with H-528 & 7MW.
Looks like HT95B is returning to SMX from the Cable Fire.
I happened to have explained this a few weeks ago on another forum.
528 departing Santa Ynez now.
Any iap for today ?
It depends where the fire is in the monument. The rules of engagement vary depending on the area and what BLMs concerns are for “natural resources”.
Kern sending H407. Cameras showing it’s not quite fixed wing weather yet so the more rotors the better.
Catering rigs showing up to Santa Maria FG. Not bad since it hasn’t even been 24 hrs. Nice to see admin getting the ball rolling quickly.
Gusts will be stronger imo with this unusual 4th of July front approaching. May just do everyone a favor and bring the fire down to 166. Big winds and mixing heights through this evening…
It’s a fire station - had a whole pump/water operation set up there during the Lake fire last year as contingency…
The incident is just coming up on being 24 hours old – and in its first day went from zero to 35K. Local resources and their Command and Control structure probably have a plan, most likely some semblance of an initial IAP with some 204’s, but it may resemble a glorified ICS 201 Form. I wouldn’t expect much more and certainly could never expect a formal IAP being produced at this time. The initial run around the “Planning P” is difficult and tough under normal circumstances. The CIM team gets in and in-briefed later on today, and I would bet some of the team’s Operations folks are already probably out there scouting to get some SA. But anyone would be starting from behind the C2 curve. It grew incredibly fast. We must be patient.
“In there” is a complex question. There are multiple DPAs and land management plans and land status that must be looked over. There are WSA’s and Ecological Preserves in the area that should also be considered. Like others have said, let the team get in an in-briefed and figure out the problems, then they can come up with some solutions. I am sure some decisions have already been made. You need to learn to pick the right ridge, which may not always be the next ridge, but the right one when considering the big picture.
Before anyone starts jumping up and down screaming d#$% ecological constraints. 20 years from now it will look much the same, possible better, except if there are dozer breaks that aren’t rehabbed – then its trashed. Even when its rehabbed you can often tell and it is no longer pristine or wilderness.
Due to the fast-moving Madre Fire, all BLM lands in Carrizo Plain National Monument are closed to public access effective immediately. This emergency closure is for public and firefighter safety. Entry is prohibited and violators face federal penalties including fines and imprisonment. Please stay out of the closed area to avoid interfering with firefighting operations - per [BLM]
Let’s hope 24’s are considered if the driving time eats all your production/rest time. I know- I know, some don’t like it. I used to rail against it until I read the report and research.
FYI the XSL Type 3 IMT partnered with XSB support is in command and has produced an IAP for a multi branch incident, fed the troops, and building an ICP for CIMT 8. Great collaboration with all Unified Command partners.
here’s a ksby photo of the map they briefed this morning:
Yup, too early. There is a lot of complexity packed in that incident area. Running it as a complex has both positives and Delta’s to be considered. Logistics will have a say so – and they need to. Operations can’t achieve (do) what Logistics can’t support. Look up both Operational Reach and Logistical reach–very similar to the military counterparts. After that, then look at all the intricacies of DPA, land management status, etc.
THEY SHOULD BE CONGRATULATED!! That Briefing BAM is excellent. Great work!! This shows the advantage and need for the further development and support of the Type-3 AHIMT/IMT program. The incoming team will be blessed by some great work.
13:50 Intel 24 about 5mins out.
Any wagers on acerage?
