304,640 acres and 39% contained.
Northern Rockies Fed Team transitioned in to the North yesterday.
307,051 ac. @ 44% containment a/o 1845 SouthOps News and Notes. Seriously into the grind it out phase. Lots of work still being done to clear hazard trees so roads can be opened and areas repopulated. Occasional flare ups as the fire hits areas of unburned fuel, but I didnât hear much activity, at least in the North Zone. Did hear some Divisions being consolidated on the west side at least.
AA15 is up and over the fire since 9am and requested 2 type 1 copters to Div. N for a 5 acre spot. Work with the copters is looking good.
Clear air is over the east side up the South Fork San Joaquin at Mono Creek where the fire is running though a heavy timber stringer and 2 LATs are dropping to slow
the growth of this finger. This is near the High Sierra Ranger Station.
Smoke is wanting to cover this area over but, dropping will continue until smoked out or line is built.
Mariposa Helibase has been reestablished. I believe Mammoth base has been closed. Hear talk about wanting to refuel at Mammoth but canât.
AA requesting 3 additional medium copters ( placed at 11:30) to Div. N out of Auberry Helibase once the other ships in the air get refueled. Total of 5 copters will working with hand crews walking in.
AA15 is up and over the fire since 9am and requested 3 type 1 copters and helco to Div. N for 3 new spots.
Clear air is over the east side up the South Fork San Joaquin River at Devils Table, west of Mono Hot Springs. Spots are running though heavy timber stringers and rocky areas.
Start hiking in crews from Mono Hot Springs.
Discussion over launching fixed wing. Submitting request to use fixed wing in wilderness.
This is north of the High Sierra Ranger Station.
13:40 update: spots were knocked down. No fixed wing required or used. All flanks smoked out and all air ops shutdown.
312,063 acres and 49% contained.
AA15 over fire at 08:30 and is launching 3 copters into Div. S and N for some priority work with the ground crews along the south fork of the San Jaoquin River.
Yesterday Helco was working copters to assist ground crews in Div.S. Nothing too exciting.
315,413 ac. (+1713) @ 62% (+13%) as of the 0700 OSCC update. Grinding away. Very smoky on the ground here at 3600 ft. just west of Bass Lake.
North Zone IAP is password protected. Sending resources there now and would like to get a look at the IAP before arriving.
322,089 acres and 48% contained.
Can I suggest not publishing these passwords or tips, so we donât ruin it for everyone? Leave it up for a bit, and then mods remove them? Blasting it on the public forum is a real quick way of the feds âfixingâ that problem.
Especially with the amount of public and media here, and the entire reason of the feds âsecuringâ it to avoid the IC getting direct calls from idiots.
Those that know them, private message the original requester the pw along with the âkeep it to yourselfâ disclaimer, or take screenshots of requested pages (often the 205) and just post those.
N170WL is mapping the fire.
Fair enough. I see your point. I only offered the tip in the name of firefighter safety regarding the communications of LCES.
There are many out on the line who do not have a hard copy of an IAP, either due to spiking out or the lack of IAPs at base camp and with many out of region, out of state, or LG resources helping us out, its been clearly obvious, as a safety guy, that information is being missed.
AA15 over the fire and contacted fire watch51 also over the fire for some IR intel in
Div. N and P. Helco is launching to check if some copters can make it into those divisions
to help ground crews.
All aircraft were smoked out. Therefore no copters got out to do bucket work. Try again in PM hours.
Feds teams 4 and 14 have command now. Team 4 is the north zone and 14 South Central Sierra is south zone and working the home unit.
Northern Rockies T4
Icp for the south zone is at the memorial building in clovis.
331,996 acres and 49% contained.
AA15 over the fire since 11am along with 507 flying with the Flir camera found a slop over in Div. M. Bucket copters were dispatched and assisting ground crews now.
Div. P is asking for some intel along that line. Might be asking for bucket work as well.
16:30 update: 3 copters have been working the slop in Div.M and will continue until 18:00. Additional type 1 enroute from Mariposa Helibase now. Copters on the ground by 18:30.
This has been the only air support today.
