CA-SNF-Ross??

CHP H40 reports fire in section 26 of the Rock Creek Crossing.

SNF with high dispatch along with CalFire.

I don’t find this location yet. A little help on location?
There’s a Rock Creek drainage north of Dinkey. Was a fire in there 2 weeks ago?
I didn’t hear all the details for a better location.

Also, ANG fixed wing flew over this and reported it too.

Flight Radar has AA 430 circling north of Balch Camp between Balch and Patterson Mtn in the Ross Crossing area. This will be southeast of Shaver Lake, northeast of Pine Flat Lake for those not familiar with the area. Between the Creek and Rough fire scars. Long response times.

AA430 on scene 4 acres slow rate of spread in grass and timber.
Request 2 more tankers.

AA430 used 5 tankers to box in the fire. Shaky containment only by the retardant.
Tankers just doubled up the drops. Load and hold.
Ground resources walking in with only poor visible escape routes or safety zones. Still about 20 minutes from the heal.
Road needs to be cut clear before engines can get close. 11S24 or 10S24, one of those.
Stands as 5 acres.

2 Copters on scene

Is Fence Meadow lookout been used in the last few years? Can be use as helispot?

Huntington Lake cams should see it if it wasn’t so smokey. I can’t see any new fires. Try it.

Mop up with hose lines and a portable pump (found a creek to dam) are following the hand crew cutting line through the retardant. Good progress. Walked fire and downsized to 2.5 acres.

Crews are also cutting the road clear and will bring in two engines to assist pumping.

Try to release some equipment around night fall.

Engines made it in last night to pump the hose lines.
Lines held through the night.
Need a B faller or better to fall hazard snags. Water tender would be helpful.
All that’s left is to mop up the still active burning heavy dead and down.

Fire Declared out. Engine crew and hand crew walked the fire. No smokes nor heat. Pulled hose lays.
