Crane valley and Kings River IHC hiking in. I believe it was secata ridge to get eyes on the fire.
talking evacs for kirch Campground And the campgrounds down the river. also maybe Balch Camp
might be able to refresh dozer lines from the sacata Ridge also 4353 is saying Rd NS069 could work
20 acres
10s069 I think it’s 4353 that I’m seeing with their lights on. I’m looking from highway 168. I’ve also got good visibility of fire.
aahh 10s069… gotcha.
It took awhile to chew through the timber. Looks like it’s gonna make a run up slope
Is there timber in there? Looked like mixed brush and grass oak woodland. I get fires look bigger at night but definitely looks a little bigger then 20 acres just my opinion though
Then again it’s the perspective it could be only 20
You’re totally right. I thought it was at that transition… But it looks lower than I thought
That area is grass, chaparral, and oak with some digger pine mixed in.
Hotshots are up on Sacata ridge and 4353 was coming down the powerline road and fuel break getting fairly close to the fire.
Edit 1:27am
Accessed from 10s69 and 11s04 roads 10 acres slow rate of spread. BIA liason, investigator, 4 type 1 handcrews and a type 1 helicopter plus other equipment for later today since it’s 1am now.
looks like ground crews got to it at about 3:30am. they’ve started a contingency line as well. AA and 2 helos ordered for this morning
Per Michael CA Fire Scanner on Watch Duty
Kinda surprised they put crews in. With as difficult access was id think a bigger box would be in play
I’m not a firefighter nor an expert but I could speculate all day… lol. that’s not what I do though so I have my scanner app goin.
AA “still in the shade. can see water comin in at the top. sounds like they want us to circle it with red”
Been a lot of Fire contained or slowed down by Hand crews on both the State and Fed side over the years. As many on here have been the ones who have walked or flown in to do it. A well motivated crew or crews can do a lot of work and cut a lot of line.
