AA requesting 4 tankers immediate need:

Two type1 Fixed wing, LATs
Two type 3 Fixed wing multi enegine, S2’s

Let me check one of the cams… I see the Trout fire activity increasing over the last hour…bet that’s what is happening on the Long.

Shirley peak: view at 40 dregree’s, white capping… lots of drift smoke…

AA estimates Long fire at 100 acres with a SROS. He’s enroute back to Porterville.

I have seen this type of ordering before. The AA at the time wanted the smaller tankers so they could get down further into down a spur ridge into a draw then he felt the type 1’s could effectively work but wanted type 1’s also so that they could work the ridge top. To me that’s an AA that knows what tools are in his toolbox and how to effectively execute the IC’s objective. Also “closest resource” is designed for IA but after that its by request. I am sure this will get deleted or dumped into it’s own thread. I thought the typing system allows the IC to order exactly what they want for a given mission, and that specific resource is the best qualified for that mission. If the ECC or Expanded, or GACC says we can get you these closer resources as the closest T1 air tanker is two states away, that is up to the IC alone to accept or decline.

Completely agree. Sometimes it’s politics too. Countless times I know crews are sent to a fire and told not to engage and then sent off all while the fire goes on fed land. Or one station that’s further from the fire is called instead of the one closer to the fire.

No offense, but I think that is the Trout.

I may be mistaken. But not 100% sure. Sounds like it got active again.

Trout might have a 205 out on the FTP site by now, but if not, their air freqs are in the Trout Q/A? thread.

Looking at Flight Radar they are focusing on the Long fire with aircraft but the Trout looks to be very active on the Bald Mt cam.
