On the matter of satellites, specially the Goes17 west, it missed the Wishon fire entirely today.
I switched to GOES18 and the fire shows on it.

Anyone having issues with the scanner link? I keep missing parts and pieces of radio traffic due to it buffering constantly.

They are doing testing with GOES 18 and 17 (with GOES 18 being used right now) and planned through Sept 6th. Putting it through its paces before it becomes “operational”

Yeah. For some reason sqf4 is ALWAYS trouble. Even on my department programmed radio I can’t pick up their traffic most the time.

Copy that. Thanks.

The Caltopo and rammb-slider GOES builds are poor. COD satellite webpage was the quickest at showing the start but, it has no zoom levels. Last sweep from GOES18 tonight shows no visible signature. Nice box the air and ground made.

Looks like might have ordered a Type 2 team? Can anyone confirm.

Question for NorCalScan: ?

I believe I copied today’s air frequencies as
169.2875 AA
166.6125 AG
127.025
Confirmed above with traffic on both frequencies @ 09:00

Just heard AA07 enroute to fire. Not sure where he’s out of (very weak signal on National Flight).

2 Tankers on round robin drops on Div.F east flank for over 2 hours.

AA request 3 additional copters to fire for water dropping. West flank Div.B.

ICP will be in Springville for sure? There a facility that gets used There?

The team’s probably meeting at Springville Ranger Station they’ll probably end up at Porterville fairgrounds for the ICP,
There is a cow pasture on the north end of town they have used in the past last I heard Edison was using it for a projects up there.

Unconfirmed. They have used the Marina before on Lake Success. 2016 last time I remember. Waiting for confirmation

The fence around the SCE “yard” is mostly on the northern end of that old airport/cow pasture. It’s possible it still might work for ICP. Porterville Fairgrounds would be bigger of course.

Porterville Fair Grounds will probably be Base Camp just like all the other fires. My last two rotations on the team was the fair grounds for the Sequoia Complex. But, from team members intel good chance the team will not take the fire because the IA was successful?..

Not hearing much. did the Team actually take the fire and get in place? Was suppose to be in place yesterday by 1700 hrs. Containment has risen and fire activity remains minimal. I think the biggest concern was for a Team was the expected thunderstorms and winds with the open line which pretty much missed it yesterday.

AA52 and helco 2CH are over the fire and only concerns are some smokes along Div.F East flank.
Might move some copters to Div.B later if it shows any needs as the day heats up. Biggest heat showing is in the NE corner with some down in the SE section.

Heard firewatch 51 flying back from the McKinney but it didn’t sound like he did any recon of this incident.

Team members are still currently en route. With the upcoming weather it may almost be a prepo kinda thing?
