It looks like there’s at a few spots across the Salmon River by Morehouse Creek and Crapo Creek. Hopefully they’re able to pick them up or long hikes just got a lot longer for the folks on this.
No recent fire history on that side of the River for about 35,000 acres.
Blue is fires since 2020
Green is fires between 2010 and 2020.

Quite the puzzle, there’s a lot of line near the slop from the Jacket Fire, earlier this month, and a 2021 fire upstream on the North Fork Salmon. They’ve got to keep it out of Crapo Creek, though.
The Klamath is kind of like the Feather River, you don’t see a lot of medium-sized fires. Either we keep them really small or they burn the whole world.
Perhaps you can explain or elaborate. At the end of your post you compare the Klamath to the Feather River, but this fire is along the Salmon River and on the SRF. What are some of the factors involved?
As it moves to the north, it’s moving onto the Klamath NF. This fire started right near the boundary, which is why Summit and jacket had one team assigned through the Klamath and Butler had a different team assigned through Six Rivers
Once fires are established mid slope in these rugged canyons, containing them before they become large is very difficult. Just about anywhere in the Festher River or Klamath NF, you’ll be working in heavy dead and down and snags from previous large fires. Retardant isn’t very effective because the fires can just finger around thru the heavies, or underneath them. Hand line construction is slow and dangerous, and there are few options for dozers except on major ridges, all of which have old dozer lines, already.
