It has been backing down into Cedar Creek for 2 weeks. Rolled out across underslung handlines (brown) a couple times.
White lines here are 1 day spread increments.

Blue line is slope profile (one of the cooler features of Google Earth Pro, IMHO…)

A massive snag came down from up slope, well interior and blew across the creek. Multiple spots got established and one of the spots took off. You can’t beat mother nature.

We took a look at firing progress on this fire this morning. It has been a really interesting fire to cover over the past 3 weeks. There is a lot of fire on the ground right now. Yesterday they stayed under an inversion and things were really moderated. SE corner of the active part of the fire seems like it has most potential to cause problems. https://youtu.be/Pg6li54cDqM

Morning report for 8/29 - firing continues on Campbell Fire, with a little slopover to add excitement, overall still looks good. They’re making a lot of hay with firing under good conditions, inversion.

I’m seeing a lot of LAT’s going in and out of Redding, , including Tankers 103, 132, 160, 16, and 168. Are they supporting a firing op or did it take off once the inversion lifted?

Sounds like a spot fire got some legs under it.

Looking at the IR, Ops maps, and camera position the spot fires in Hawkins Creek Drainage are quite active and things are getting sporty.

There was a pretty-well established spot this morning on the IR. We took a drive around it in Google Earth and talked about new drone IR they are flying on it on The Lookout this morning.
We also look at firing patterns and talk about the theory behind them.
A huge amount of fire has been put on the ground in past couple days, and the IR really tells an interesting story.

A lot of mud being flown today on the fire. What happens when we have multiple new fires by next week and those air tankers are not available?

add VLAT (s) to the mix

Looking at flight radar tankers have returned to bases and AA is heading back to base.

Looking at the cams, they are probably getting smoked out. Column is laying way down.

Per Inciweb:
Containment has dropped to 54 percent, due to firing operations off road systems being converted from contained line to open line, until firing of those areas has been completed.
