J 59 X Old Don Pedro Rd was the location. A couple miles south of Green Springs FFS. Half mile south of Red Hills RD in that area.
Had it been dark it would have been a different story IMHO.
We use to get a lot of fires from the House Boat Mini Mart to Redhills road mainly on the eastside of J-59.
Biggest fires were in daylight. The biggest I was on 650 acres. Biggest night fire 120. The biggest problem with that area are the Tombstone rocks that are hell on tires. Many a flat tire on engines on moblile attack. That fire would of been the same time of day as the Aero Fire with the wind it would of made it to the lake.
I remember making a mobile attack there, probably in 1970, and having the tombstone rocks take out one of my rear tires. No problem I thought, I’ll change the tire when we tie this in. Bang! There goes one of the duals on the other side! So when we tied it in, I limped back to Twain Harte to get two new tires.
Copy that(LOL) we kept who ever had the tire contract in business.
I actually think I stopped at Tweedy Tires and got 2 new ones put on.
I caved the radiator into the fan on a Model 9 doing mobile attack at night down there
