This morning’s flight shows minimal growth on the southern portion of the fire, near Camarillo Heights, and mainly eastward and northward growth on the heel of the northern portion, south of Santa Paula.
Mild onshores were forecast to affect the fire this afternoon, but nothing so far, according to the webcams. Offshore winds are forecast to pick back up tonight, but the western flanks of both portions of the fire look pretty secure, with minimal growth between 6pm last night and 10:30am this morning.

“He said the department will adopt a new post-fire recognizance program utilizing drones and technology, explore improved mop-up policies, and undergo a Balcom Fire investigation by an outside, independent agency. We’re going to work with our partners in California, and we’re going to create a best practice utilizing technology and utilizing all the tools available to make sure we are mopping up properly,” Gardner said.
