Last week got a call from a unit and accepted it. Just curious if anyone knows the FF1s getting hired from last week’s wave are going on engines or are they going on the hand crews?

Going to both. Lots of ff1’s getting FAE jobs and there is also a huge need for handcrews.

Are the new FF1 positions interchangeable on they switching between engine and handcrew assignments?

Guys as a former Crew Captain, those of you that are assigned to crews, get every aspect of the assignment imbedded in you minds. Fire weather and fuels conditions will be you primary focus on incidents. I"ve always trained my folks to work as if no air tankers or engines are coming to the fire your working on. and indeed we had a few like that during my Crew days. It a huge asset to your thinking when assigned to an Engine crew as well. Being exposed to both assignments will make you well rounded firefighters. Good luck and Stay safe.
For the Crew folks I had a sayin’ in my day with line construction: " Never travel the same piece of real estate twice" Meaning make you line effective the first pass thru.
