Well aside from a governor being unable to declare a national anything, all fires have been declared disaster areas both state and federal. I’m guessing Hurricane Ida near NOLA has caused more people to be affected than the fires in CA just because of the relatively rural nature of them.
Not sure what calling a NSE would bring.

Consulting the Oracles: are you guys starting to feel nervous for Amador and Calaveras looking at the south side of this thing? Current conditions are holding it back but with the wind changing at the end of the week, what then?
Again, not up on the intricacies but FEMA goes to all the hurricane disasters with out a NSE. I doubt money will be restricted for these fires for assistance. Guess we would have to know exactly what a NSE encompasses. Or what isn’t being met by the current disaster declarations.
The 1st step in the process is the FMAG which was secured back on Aug 17. That clears the way for FEMA and other disaster relief efforts once repopulation is under way.
