Curious if anyone out there has had any luck with the Calfire exams for FAE and Captain. Everyone that I have talked to so far have all recieved failing scores. Seems odd as the exams are pretty straight forward and you need a 70 to pass. Just curious if anyone else out there has been surprised at these results like I have.
I’m just hearing horror stories. That people have been failing left and right.
I feel like there is something up with the system. Exams unit wont offer any help just state that the exam has been thoroughly vetted. Im hoping enough people file an appeal to get them to take a look. Could be everyone is just truly failing…highly unlikely in my opinion.
Maybe some aren’t ready for the great badge giveaway.
Isn’t it an open book test? I’m sure some questions might have a couple answers that could be right, which one is more right?
State Personnel Board has repeatedly failed to perform.
Luckily passing the exam doesn’t matter for me as I’m already permanently in a position, but through chat gpt (every question and answer) I was able to score a thorough 65% and fail the exam.
Luckily my score doesn’t matter in retirement, but I do believe there is a flaw in the coding of the scoring system. I haven’t talked to a single person that has received a passing score.
After years of taking state exams, one flaw in the system stood out to me: they never provided feedback on the areas where you were weak. I always felt they could at least indicate the general topics—such as finance, operations, ICS, or supervision—where improvement was needed, even without giving away specific questions or answers.
Does anyone know of any passing scores?
As of today, the list for FC has 91 names,
1 rank 1
34 rank 2
56 rank 3
Where can you find this list.
Is there a link to view the eligibility list for FAE testing?
Here is a link to all lists. Choose the department (Department of Forestry and Fire Protection), then you can see all eligible lists in the department.

Does anyone know if I have to complete the written before I apply? I don’t want to miss the close date for applying, but can I do the test after the close date? Or how does that work.
Thank you
Yes you have to apply for the exam, then you can take the exam. Then you have to apply for the job itself. FF2, FAE, FC all those on 9/26. The test is contiguous, .But with all the drama surrounding it. I bet it gets thrown out.
Not sure if the results immediate, I heard some people it was some people a fews days.
A buddy told me that when he attempted to take the capt. test, it wouldn’t load so he X’d out. The next morning he got a score of “65”! Wtf, over
I have heard the same thing happen not aure how you get graded on a test you didn’t take. My guess these exams will get grived and thrown out. It is weird everyone that fails gets a 65 moat people i have heard passing got a 75 seems fishy.
It seems like there is only a few available scores.
Fail is a 65
Pass is 75, 85, 95 which would be rank 3, 2, and 1.
Yes I felt very confident in my test until I received a passing score although it was a 75 and that did not come close to how I felt I performed.
