if you have you have watched NIFCE the last month, they went from over a 100 hand crews. to less than 8 crews. The history says that Alaska is out of fire season in August. this year is just a spike. no reason to panic because we are in a lunn. Please remember that the Camp and Wolseley Fires occurred in November. Just hold on and we will take it on a bite at a time.

Rumor has it, you take a passport picture at the post office and go to the state department and they give you one in 2 hours

I worked on the CA/OR border. We Feds used CA Corrections crews a lot. Used to be no legal authority for CA Corrections guards over inmates if they crossed into Oregon. Inmates could just take off supposedly. Most the border is Fed responsibility anyway so cross border firefighting is not an issue. Klamath and Rogue/Siskiyou NFs both extend across state lines.
