Does anyone have information where 250 - 300 care packages can be delivered to for the August Complex North Zone, on Saturday, October 24, 2020? The provider has successfully delivered to 2 other large fires. They’re driving from Bandon, OR.
ICP for the north zone was on hilltop drive in Redding at one of the hotels. That would be my best guess
Before you drive to deliver them, you need to get ahold of the command post at the fire you’re intending to take them to, and see if they can even accept them. Some times, the most sincere, and well-intentioned of donations wind up creating more problems than they solve, due to fire staff having to divert their attention to managing and distributing donations, issues with health requirements on food (if that’s part of the package), and even just space to put the “stuff”. I’ve seen fires where kids have gone door-to-door collecting bottled water and gatorade for the firefighterss, and delivered it next to the forklift unloading pallets of water and gatorade from a semi truck. Truly none was needed, and their well-intentioned efforts could have better gone to serve someone who actually needed the help. On another, they had a huge pile of donated food that spoiled, because firefighters are already fed more food than most can eat in a day, and they had to rent U-haul trucks to try to get the donations to food pantries that could actually use it before it went bad.
