The fire continues to smolder and burn but did not grow overnight. The area received 2-3 inches of snow which is helping to keep the fire from spreading. Approximately 25 firefighters will be working today. Air resources may be used later today if weather permits. Empire Electric is on scene working to restore power. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

UPDATE 8:45pm
The fire has affected approximately 80 acres on the south side of highway 145 between Road 37 and the West Fork road on private and Forest Service land and is 5% contained. The Subdivision in the 38.1 area remains on pre-evacuation status. Highway 145 reopened at 9pm. The fire continues to burn and crews will remain on scene throughout the night. Weather permitting, air resources will be used tomorrow.
We would like to thank fire fighters from Dolores, Cortez, West Fork, Rico, Mancos, Lewis-Arriola, the Division of Fire Prevention and Control, and the US Forest Service, BLM, and CDOT for their assistance.
