Equipment Q&D Thread?

So, I have always thought we should have a dedicated Q&D thread on equipment.
Recommendations on a new piece of equipment your department is looking for (saws, hose, portable pumps, etc) help troubleshooting an issue with a piece of equipment and so on.

Normally I’m the “guy” in the “I know a guy” as I have a fire equipment background and handle the purchasing for my department.

Having said that- - - I am looking for help figuring out which laser pointer to buy. I know there are plenty of “google” reviews but this is one I have NO first hand experience with.

What’s your use case? Are you looking for something for PowerPoint presentations or vaporizing planets or just entertaining your cat?

Beware of the knockoff lasers on Amazon, as they may be much more powerful than advertised and cause serious eye injuries and/or blindness.

Ok - more specific. I was recently on the Airport Fire watching from the top of a ridge and there were a couple of crews going back and forth on the radio about spots in the drainage. They were using laser pointers to direct the crews into them. I never tied in with them to see what they were using…… but man, old dog - new trick!
Now I have to have one!

I just joined this forum this morning (Alaska Standard Time) to inquire about any and all information pertaining to Alaska, Montana or Idaho wildfire season. I’m a well rounded equipment operator and have been wanting to get into the industry for some time now.
