New Start - NM Antelope Flats Fire (NM-N3S, New Mexico State Socorro District), Discovered 4/20, 20 acres, ~38 miles WNW of Socorro NM (34 12.420, -107 31.590). 1 AA, 1 LAT1 (Airtanker type 1) T40 from silver city dropped and went to Libby. Additional Resources ordered: 1 LAT1, 1 FASM (Aerial Supervision Module), & 1 SMOD (Suppression module, 9-person).

Antelope Flats Fire burns 500 acres, no structures threatened

A lot of the land around the north end of the Very Large Array (VLA) is owned by the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. They have the 135,000 acre Double H Ranch there. We did some large burns for them in the 2000s. They have some really nice pondo pine stands in the higher elevations.
