Helper, UT

Hi all,
Getting dispatched to Helper, UT for an in brief on Friday morning. Anybody know what’s going on? I can’t find any info.

Heard there were a few on the Manti-La Sal NF. Up by Helper and down by Moab. California team 10 going to Moab area for, I think, Bear Fire…

I just found the Bear Fire. Probably where we are headed. Thanks for the info.

Where did you find that?

Started searching local news for Helper, UT. 5300 acres and no containment. 50 MPH winds expected this week.

It’s in the Bear Canyon area and another fire nearby in Bennion Canyon. Haven’t heard yet if we are taking over both fires.

Curious why a California T-2 Team is taking this instead of a GB T-2 Team. Any insights?

In looking at their rotation schedule they only had one T-2 team on rotation until later this month and that team is currently on another fire.

Lightning is striking twice for California Team 10. Last season ended in Utah, this season beginning in Utah. Team has not been out of state in more than 10 years…

Well I had heard Moab area but I stand corrected…

Team 10 is in helper on the Bear, CA team 4 is rumored to be headed to Moab.

GB team 4 has the incident. Also California is not up on the National type 1 rotation, Northern Rockies is up.

Team 10 is a Type 2 team, so the national rotation may not (or may) apply. I have no idea if the Type 1 rotation is also used for the Type 2 teams. Maybe someone can enlighten us.

Once any given gacc has all its type 1 teams committed and they have a need for another type 1 team, they go to the national type 1 team rotation.
