Incident logistics issues

It’s meant to be used in camps when hot food can’t be brought in.

I know some crews set up their own cooking arrangements last year. I’ve seen pictures of crews with full Blackstone cooktops, etc (granted most were not R5 crews and had chase trailers and UTVs etc). Is this still the case, and an option?
I’ve seen multiple crews cooking this year on tailgates, compartment doors, with camp stoves.

On the Walkers fire and many other SQF fires they have bear boxes (basically the big tool boxes) filled with cooking gear and food that is slung in on their back country fires and the crews cook for themselves. Some of the off forest crews on the Walkers were told they could go buy their own food and the cook boxes would be provided. This worked well along with the food boxes but we only had 7 crews at the peak on an 8,000 acre wilderness fire.
