Yes it is BKB. So many dates of note in the Wildland Firefighter world. Let’s never forget any of them and let’s all be safe out there. Look out for one another.

Ah yes. 1941 if I recall. Rumsey and Salee made it out. So did Wag, the foreman. First backfire used for stepping into the black. Thanks for the addt’l reminder.

August 5, 2008. Seems like yesterday that 9 souls were lost on that mountain. Please reflect and take a moment to remember the Iron 44 incident and the many that have been lost over the years fighting wildland fires across the country. Always in our hearts, never forgotten.

August 5, 2008. It’s been just over 14 years since the loss of 2 pilots and 7 firefighters. That day will always be in out thoughts and those lost will always be in the hearts of the firefighting community, friends and family. Always remember, never forget.
