Hey guys first post. I was wondering what kind of pack you guys prefer and why. I am specifically looking at the top loading versus like the zip out front load or something. I am not really looking for pack brand recommendations, more just reasoning behind liking either style.

Top loading packs can carry moreā¦sometimes thats not a good thing. I prefer the zip out loading. most important thing is to get a pack that fits you.
What will your primary use of the pack be (are you going out on a hand crew, engine, rx burning?)
It will be a multi use. I am getting a modular pack for sure. I can be a single resource for multiple different uses. I can hop on one of our interagency handcrews, helitack, or engine crews. We always are doing rx burns too.
