T88 & T89 from Grassvalley are enroute.
Wind driven event, with the potential of structures out in front of it. Pulling air tankers out of AZ for this incident.
Have been watching this from the area of Reno airport for the last two hours. Winds are typical Washoe Zephyr about 25 mph. Burning from Sun Valley over to Pyramid Highway in the area or Highland Ranch Road (where fire cross the hills often.) The usual is to back off to Pyramid. If the fire crosses Pyramid (6 lanes there) there are many structures out in front but the vegetation begins to be much less dense.
Weather does not look good: NWS Reno 306 PM PDT [Sat]SYNOPSIS… A [ridge]of high pressure is creating hot conditions this afternoon with temperatures near 100 degrees for some valleys.
Plan for gusty winds today and tomorrow with elevated fire danger and choppy lake conditions.
Lots of aircraft on order, not much hardware or iron in the cue… yet
Truckee Meadows FD calling it 850 acres.
Tanker 82, 83 from Columbia and Tanker 131 have been committed to this incident.
Update: About 100 structures threatened. Fire remains uncontrolled. 300+ Firefighters on scene with numerous local, state and federal resources. Transitioning to Type 3 Team tomorrow. Via Truckee meadows fire Protection District twitter account
Looks like they have 12 aircraft (fixed, rotor) attached to the fire, and the overhead orders are starting to filter in…

Put a fork in it…well done!
