Just putting this out there in case it’s helpful —We are creating a database that lists qualified firefighters and operators for contractors during the fire season and off-season. This includes dozer operators, water tender operators and many other wildland related opportunities. We’re launching this summer with tools like availability calendars, logbooks, direct messaging and many other really beneficial features. This is not a job board or recruiting service but something much more unique, tailored to wildfire contractors. We are veteran owned and operated and work in the fire industry as pilots and on the ground. If this sounds relevant, you can subscribe for updates through our website Operatorshub.com

To what purpose is this database being created? You are hinting at personal information to be supplied to your website. Who is going to have access to this personal information? What is it going to be used for? How secure is the servers on which it is housed? Is this information going to be restricted to US based people only or is this worldwide access?
These are a few of the questions which immediately come to mind with regards to personnel record security and access. Before the post is taken down, we are going to give you an opportunity to provide much clearer facts and detail than you have provided above.
If others have concerns or questions, please feel free to respond. We will review all the responses and the Mods will discuss if this thread is appropriate.
Hi Dozer Keith,
Very valid questions and concerns. Security and safety of personal information is something we are implementing into the software, we are making sure it is done right, and information is protected. Currently we are collecting only emails for operators and companies that want to stay in the loop about our launch. Please feel free to call our support line, (209) 317-9182 we would be happy to go into much more detail and certainly talk fire.
Additionally, if this post does violate any terms or restrictions on the forum, please take down. Thank you!
I am giving you an opportunity to give this forum some clarity around your launch and what you intend to do with that information. So far, you are choosing not to be substantive which does not work in your favor.
I understand,
At this time I cannot go into further details about the security features because not all have been finalized yet and we do not want to give any false information.
Our website is being created because we saw the need ourselves with trying to find qualified people to run equipment and it seems to be getting more difficult. This is not intended to be vague, and I will provide much more details as we come closer to the August launch. Plese feel free to remove this post and I apologize for not being able to go into greater detail at this time.
I’m watching this carefully. I went to the webpage, the info is indeed vague for an equipment owner operator. I did register my email to see if any information will be forthcoming. Waiting to see if I will pursue any further. Right now, I’m not comfortable sharing any further info with them until I see a more refined product.
I agree that it can be helpful when an operator is needed on short notice, or to fill a longer-term need; however, the issues with information security for both the operators and owners PII (Personally Identifiable Information) can be daunting. The operatorshub.com folks need to understand that PII leakage is a huge red flag and dangerous to all subsets of users.
Waiting to see where this leads.
