Crane Fire Update - The only evacuations at this time are the Willow Creek & Twin Springs Campgrounds & the Crane Mountain Trailhead.
Law enforcement is sweeping right now to notify people recreating in the South Warners of the threat.
Notifications have also been made to private landowners and residents in the South Warners regarding the threat for their awareness.
Lakeview and New Pine Creek are not threatened by the fire, but there may be smoke impacts depending on wind direction. #CraneFire
Crane Fire Update 8/17/20 7 AM - southeast of Lakeview, OR (Lake County)
The Crane Fire is reported to be nearly 2,000 acres in size with no containment listed as of this morning. It was reported at 1:45 yesterday afternoon and experienced rapid growth. It is burning west of Crane Mountain on the Fremont-Winema National Forest, Lakeview Ranger District. It is located 10 miles to the southeast of Lakeview, OR. A full response of air and ground resources is occurring this afternoon. At least four Single Engine Air Tankers and ground crews attacked the fire yesterday. The fire fire spread is tracked in the maps below in red dots. The cause of the fire is under investigation. A Type 3 Incident Management Team is expected to take over management of the fire. An order for a Type 2 Incident Management Team (NW Team 12) is in place with an estimated transition expected later today or tomorrow.
