that’s exactly what it is, in the past departments would send rigs that needed repairs and then blame the incident so the incident would cover it . This ensure that crew safety is upmost after a long trip south but to ensure that the equipment being utilized is mechanically safe. They did do some quick repairs to brakes and change out tires but most of its just a CYA. This way as well it’s documented that it came into the firefight one way and leaves the same way the state got it if not better.
I’ve heard of this, especially the private hire equipment. Funny enough I did notice notice in the video a rig with mismatched drive tires
What’s wrong with that?
Haha, I remember clear as day putting recaps on Fed engines early 2000’s in Region 5 and 2011 West Texas IA.
Illegal, and just a bad idea in general
Illegal based on what?
Ileagal on steer tires. But they are not worth it
Better not go snooping around too many Forestry stations mid summer, might be a few mismatched tires
Technically Fire Vehicles are exempt by title 49 covers it
Last I checked steer tires are not duals
I’m assuming the state has a similar inspection facility in Southern California, but it wouldn’t surprise me if the resources from lower states were made to drive up to Davis.
You are right until someone not in the know rotates a capped duel to a steer. Most people don’t look
Noble Creek camp
How’d we go from emissions to recaps. If you guys want to cry about fake news go on Facebook. This isn’t why I’m on this forum!!!
Why would you say that or feel that way?
This is a thread about fire truck inspections. The emissions part was in error and it is actually about total inspections. If you don’t like this thread go over to the fire threads. There are plenty of them.
With due respect, the thread is about out of state Strike Teams having to stop for emissions inspections. This has proven to be a lie. Comments from those doing the inspections, have stated they have not even tested emissions. For those of us that have or were in the fire business, a safety check after any deployment is mandatory to insure the safety of the personnel on those vehicles. An inspection after a long drive makes good sense!!! Not all departments are equal as far as maintenance is concerned. Quite frankly, there are some scary emergency rolling stock out there!
What else is there to say???
I am over and done with this topic!
