September hiring

A new academy FF1 in San Diego is keenly waiting to be hired. 2 academy buddies were hired in Early August. Are there hiring delays?

No just everyone is out of the office on a fire…

Thank you so much.
2nd question: A new academy ff1 was offered positions from 2 Northern Cal units back in early June, but turned them both down because they were at the very bottom his list of preferred location choices …70O miles from his home in San Diego. Realizing that he may have made an error by putting NoCal on the list, at all…He is very concerned that this could negatively affect his chance to be hired In SouthOps units ?

Short answer for that is don’t apply to units you are not willing to work. It’s a waste of time for everyone

Long answer…

New academy ff1 has learned a very important lesson when it come to CalFire. It’s extremely important to fill out everything accurately. Naff1 is actually lucky he learned this early. Better when nobody knows who you are than when your rep is established. Many a FF1, FF2, FAE and yes FC learns this later in their career when they made a mistake on the app and realize the hiring pool for the next exam will be 20% the size of the current one. Calfire is hiring at a high clip, your time will come (and 30 years will be over before you know it).

Naff1 can’t do anything about it now, so don’t be “very concerned”.

People turn jobs down all the time to hopefully get picked up by another unit. As long as the Southern region units were on his work location form he can be picked up by any unit.
