I am looking for resources to find any upcoming staff rides in California. Is there a site that lists these or are they word of mouth, inter department, etc?
Unclear what you mean by staff rides. Can you clarify please?
Where an agency takes folks out to the site of a firefighter fatality on a wildland fire yo retrace the events and conditions that led to the event. They are training/lessons learned opportunities. The military has done them forever and the wildland fire service does them now as well.
I posed a similar yet different question a while back. The below link was a very helpful map for my needs, and may partially help you.
I do believe Forests,Units offer in house staff rides but typically not publicly advertised. Many times to satisfy JAC or apprentice requirements.
Understanding there is a difference between staff rides, case study and site visit
