So how’s the FDNY managing being in the middle of the wilderness?
They gained some valuable experience on the Dolan fire on the LP. Had a great experience working with them and even made some new friends!
The FDNY has been deploying a team for probably 20 years now. They went to work creating them immediately after working with Fed IMTs at Ground Zero.
All hazard incident management.
They have several rostered individuals that focus on wildland fire outside of FDNY on the current roll, most of them are from R9 USFS.
Very Proud to know tha The FDNY are representing in All Hazard Management
They also spent considerable time shadowing the Fed Type 1 teams in the Southwest. I spent a few days with them at Holy Cross college in NO during Katrina. They were there to stand back up the NOFD and did a good job utilizing ICS.
Anyone there that can comment on how they are doing running the fire? How’s the camp? Just trying to get a sense on how the infamous FDNY are doing in the wildland realm.
Talked to a couple of different people there. They said if you weren’t told FDNY was running things you would never know it. Same old same old
Relieved them with Team 13 on the Seqouia Complex a few years ago. They are no different than any other team, other than the accents.
