I’ve known since I was a kid remote lakes were stocked by air. Didn’t know what exactly that meant until now though lol. I always assumed it was more of like a helicopter and some crates type thing. That’s pretty rad how they do it though.

I hiked back into some really remote unnamed lake near Red Buttes Wilderness back in the early 1980’s. On the rocks above the lake I found a bunch of petrified fish splattered on the rocks. It took me a moment to figure it out: I guess they missed the water with a drop!

I can’t find the article but its actually about a 70% survival rate and if I remember correctly anything above 50% is considered a success.

Wow, like a few posts above, I had always assumed it was by helibucket with the gentle release of say several feet. Crazy cool info.
