Each Type 2 team is paired up with a Type 1 team and has been since last year. When a Type 1 team gets activated, the partner Type 2 team goes with them but as a short team. So mostly the C&G from the Type 2.
Do anyone else think that California Forest will just order type 2 teams from out of state instead of ordering a type 1 team? Or will the Forest insist on ordering the type 1 team as a short team as a type 2 substitute? Does anyone think more Local type 3 teams will get requested? Just some thoughts.
I think for the most part the typing of the fire will still dictate whether or not a type 1 or type 2 team goes. Not 100% sure why the quarter fire requested a type 1 but I know they just got cancelled and are heading to pre-position at McClellan. Wondering if that was part of the plan all along to get them mobilized, use them if the fire blew up…and if not, preposition them with this weeks weather and with the southwest being as active as it is.
It’s pretty obvious to me why the CA IMT’s are full of retirees. It takes someone their entire career to get enough trainee assignments for tasks they’ve already completed. And also the fact that the qualified person (most likely a retired employee) that is evaluating the trainee could be displaced from their IMT position if someone ever got qualified as T1 who is a current active employee.
