WUI Training

I was just wondering what WUI training everyone is doing? Is there a set of classes that are being used? What else have some of you come up with?

S215 - Fire Operations in the Wildland/Urban Interface is the standard NWCG course for people looking at the ICT4/STEN/TFLD level.

Can you be more specific to what you are looking for? Are you talking about company level training, or formal classes or both?

I also am wondering specifically what you are asking. There is NWCG classes like S-215, S-190, S-290, S-270. Most Departments also do
Annual RT-130 training which is necessary to be Red Carded each year. Most places in So Cal have adopted Cal Fires SFACTS, and WUI Guidlines from their structure Defense Guidlines. Also review and know the most current version of the IRPG.

One other thought, some of the areas where I worked do inter-agency training before fire season. It may take the form of sand table exercises between federal state and local partners or drills with resources working together (or some combination). It is very helpful to get on the same page with your response partners before fire season, especially for helping smooth through the difficulties that can arise in unified command.
