Bunchgrass is new, and will be an amazing asset for the far eastern SHU and hopefully can help the Nevada cams triangulate any top smokes coming up in the LMU.

Elk Creek is on the old ATT Long Lines tower there - pretty cool, and great vantage point into that valley and the eastern front of the MNF there. Eagle’s Nest is also on an ATT Long Lines tower, and the tower in between Elk Creek and Eagle’s would fill a gap in the western Tehama County - off Colyear Springs Road, but not sure if owners took the tower down or not. Sat view says it’s still there. Round Mtn covers some of this area in general, but as we’ve seen in the last year and half, response time out here is 25 minutes code 3, and if you commit up the wrong watershed, you lost 25 more minutes backing down to the next access spot. Getting crosses on smokes in this area would save a lot of IA headache.

BEU - Prunedale area - (editorial comment) - Even at this time of the year, these cameras look like they have limited visibility due to lots of vegetation surrounding them. I guess something is better than nothing.

Phew!!! It’s difficult keeping track of all the new cameras. A historical point, the camera at Basalt Lookout brings back memories. I got to work there a couple days in 1980 and 81 as the assigned lookouts burned some holiday time. I don’t know if it is still there or not, but the lookouts assigned there kept it in immaculate condition. The lookouts even painted ‘the privy’ annually. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming…

SCU- Pacheco Peak
Once a lookout that operated on a car battery with a solar panel, a Dumont HT, and water hauled via a military surplus 500 gallon trailer, the lookout is gone but the cameras are here now. It has a great, unobstructed view in all directions except to the south and southeast, as those views are limited to about 10 or 15 miles(ish).

Was on Pacheco Peak twice. The first was just after the Loma Prieta earthquake, my wife and I were up there with a generator charging the CalFire repeater batteries. The second was during the Santa Clara Complex fires to put up the link for a repeater connection between the back side of the fire with Christmas Hill park in Gilroy. Nice views from up there

Would it be possible to add Hemet Ryan and Ramona ATB to the Alertwildfire Webcams? Ramona is on hpwren and it is very helpful in determining the severity of a fire on initial response.

Ramona AAB was one of the first cams installed by HPWREN on July 4th, 2003.
I was a Fire Captain (ATGS) assigned there and collaborated with HPWREN, getting a free high speed network for the airbase in return for the Cam. It didn’t cost CalFire anything. I didn’t notify anyone since I had already submitted my state retirement papers for December 30.

I then went to work for HPWREN in 2004, as a network tower installer until 2009. We surveyed Hemet Ryan to install a cam & free wireless network in 2004, but met Cal Fire management resistance. Maybe the new generation will rethink the project?

Thank you for the insight and your previous efforts. Hopefully any objections could be addressed.
