With California’s next fire season now in it’s incipient stage, I thought I would update the new cameras added since the last update. The state of Utah has started adding cameras with some beautiful locations.

Ramona AAB was one of the first cams installed by HPWREN on July 4th, 2003.
I was a Fire Captain (ATGS) assigned there and collaborated with HPWREN, getting a free high speed network for the airbase in return for the Cam. It didn’t cost CalFire anything. I didn’t notify anyone since I had already submitted my state retirement papers for December 30.

I then went to work for HPWREN in 2004, as a network tower installer until 2009. We surveyed Hemet Ryan to install a cam & free wireless network in 2004, but met Cal Fire management resistance. Maybe the new generation will rethink the project?

Looks like both Jack’s peak cam and New York Peak cam, both in Nevada, have new snow in them. Or I am mistaken!
