Looking at the WatchDuty app, it was a commercial structure fire at a timber products (mill) facility. Fire spread to vegetation behind a Lowes, with aircraft en route. Tankers on scene advised that the wildland portion “appeared” controlled, but they’re continuing to watch for additional spots.
I Believe it’s a commercial structure fire at the Ampine fiberboard plant in Martell with some spread into vegetation. Currently, they’ve picked up the spread into vegetation.
Looking at the time lapse, the camera picked it up at 1210.
That place burns every other year.
Thats the Particle Board plant in Martell in between Jackson and Sutter Creek.
Not anymore…
From the Amador County Sheriffs’ Facebook post - looks like a bit more than the usual biannual fire!
Copy That! Hate to see those jobs lost.

Looking at the camera, I’m wondering if the fire has gotten so hot and intense they’re just letting it burn. As I recall both, Jackson and Sutter Creek have trucks, but I don’t see any indication of elevated master streams in use. Do see a few water drops from the copters though.
Get the Sutter Hill and El Dorado Dozers( if available) with some Loaders and start pushing those sawdust Piles.
Second of at least two retardant drops - looks like they’re trying to save what’s left of the plant.
Usually not a good sign when a pile of LDH has nothing attached to it.
Ampine took a huge volume of bark-beetle-killed trees a few years back. I hate to see us lose that option.
Ampine takes mostly Cedar trees. Large complex. Major fire in chips.
I’ve gotten word that the fire suppression system and hydrants on the property went down. Per a resource at scene
That might explain the water tender dispatch that went out a few minutes ago.
That’s not good. I know they have recycle ponds to water the log decks. That would be an option.
