Good column through the haze visible from Stockton. Pack your extra socks.
Update: that may be YNP. I’ll recalibrate my back azimuth.

If they can hold on for another 2 days it looks look cooler temps with highs in the 80s and humidity for a week beyond.
The heavy column from this morning was in DIV Y off slate mountain from the repeater site working south.
This was increased activity based on drying of fuels, temperature increase, time of day. However, all activity stayed within control lines that were prepped for burn since yesterday. There was a major dog fight from ground and air resources to keep it tamed however, the wind was favorable the whole time S/SW.
Once the fire had backed/ been nursed to the dozer line and worked down the 12N76 towards what’s showing as ELD60 near Soapweed Trail activity increased more towards M/Y break on the ELD60 towards the 12N60J spur, Engine crews Dozers and Copters picking up multiple spots.
Currently fire activity has moderated and the Burn is going well. Still a fight occurring but currently we have the upper hand.
Thank you for all your work and informative updates
They are starting to order dozers and masticators as of 9pm, 8/8. We have gotten a few calls.
Thanks for the info. I was called as well.
Everyone be safe out there!
Smoke production is much less this afternoon. Hopefully, they are getting a handle on it. The latest report puts it at 1902 acres.
1,960 acres. 244 acres of growth in the last 24 hours.
8% contained. 1,543 personnel assigned. As of 5:44AM Sat Aug 10
Does every fire need a team??
Planning for the worst, hope for the best?
Going to be one heck of a fire season. Hang on
Only if the firefighters want to eat, have fuel, supplies, etc.
A team provides a lot of things that a local unit or forest can’t provide. Some of the key things that usually necessate a team is lack of planning, logistical and financial support.
Re population underway for most of the area. I think it’s fair to say this was a great catch by Cal fire AEU and allied agencies!!!
