Is this burning in the Old Fire burn scar?
They continue to order agency specific…Any reason why since they’re now in Unified Command?
It would be in the burn scar of the early 2000’s fire, 2003?? That burned that whole slope and many houses.
The IC keeps ordering MMA Strike Teams but most agencies other then who has jurisdiction will want to get paid.
Flap, I believe this will bump the Old Fire scar if it continues on its current direction. The Old fire burned spotty through that area (Eastern edge.)
As for Agency Specific orders, anything you hear BDC (San Berdoo County) is in support of our mission (structure defense.)
The MMA strike team will be faster, and will probably be converted to CFAA or released before 24 hours.
Great answers, thanks guys!
That area is checkerboard with jurisdiction. The land is either SRA or FRA , the structures will be County responsibility. It’s easier at the end when payments are being done as what agencies responsibility it is to pay for.
If you order MMA most departments will not send equipment. If you order CFAA you will get paid for anything over 12 hours. It should not matter what jurisdiction it is the CFAA will be the easiest to order and for payments. MMA makes no sense to me since its not a natural disaster per say i.e like flooding.
1 LA media copter over it now, either KTLA or ABC7.
follow ia topics. 65 acres. would not be surprised they cross the head soon???
I remember there being 3-10,000 gallon CDF water cisterns along the road out to Keller Peak back in the day. Im sure they are still up there and full. Hope someone reads this and checks them out. That much water could be the game changer. Be safe up there.
Generally speaking, this time of the year, a fire in this area will burn very aggressively to the top of the ridgeline and then sputter out. The winds aren’t substantial enough to sustain or carry the fire all that well on the downslope or across the drainages.
Very familiar with that area around Keller and have not noticed any old water tanks there.
Cisterns are underground
Google earth shows one @ 34.199171 and -117.044950 has a large W on it.
The cdf cistern system is a mix of both above and below ground. Most of the locations I am familiar with are 10000 gal above ground round concrete structures
You are correct sir, I found 3. That was fun.
