BDF has a new start with a decent build up, southeast of Big Bear.
Radford grade area? (edit)
If it gets established, this will be a real problem. I was just down there a few weeks ago and it is primed and ready. Additionally, with the WUI component, it will draw a LOT of resources.
Another good view. https://beta.alertwildfire.org/region/inlandempire/?camera=Axis-KellerPeak2
I am not speculating but this area had quite a bit of lightning yesterday.
Radford truck trail and Sugarloaf truck trail, lots of dead and down in there
Based on clouds (or lack thereof) in area, it does NOT look like a recent lightening strike… (But as SixOneNine observes, “could” be a smoldering strike from last night finally lit off in the heat). Cross of two cams shows out in the middle of nothing. Seems like an unlikely spot to camp…
Wildcad has this as Radford IC
All of that area and west to Arrowhead has been hit pretty heavy with lightning the last two days
Appears to be a second fire on the timelapse
they had storms yesterday with a few single snags burning in area
Would this be considered Snow Summit area? BDC is putting out a unit to that area.
AA requesting two additional air tankers and one additional T1 helicopter for a total of four.
IC is placing potential as 20 acres.
Back side of it yes, Radford grade comes up from the Hwy 38 side to top of the summit
If you play back the Keller Peak Timelapse…The fire has shifted from up canyon, to down canyon, and then back up canyon. Gotta be tough with winds like that.

looks like some torching as it’s getting to the top of the ridge
Drove Radford in March, nasty fuel loads, road is narrow with no turn outs, not a spot to have a type 3 in, crest at the summit is homes at the top of the ski resort
