Try this one that @norcalscan manages - It’s at the northern end of the fire, but he keeps it as current as possible for location.
307,368 acres with 0% containment
The fire is now moving northwest.
The 2 main 500kV lines are referred to as the WAPA lines - Western Area Power Adminstration. They are the intertie berween big hydroelectric dams on the Columbia River and California’s grid.
It appears that all of the Manton area is under a mandatory evacuation order.
Winds in the Inskip/Paynes Creek area are S/SE right now. Sustained 4 to 8. Gusts to 12 or so. When they hit the Battle Creek drainage they turn and go downslope from the east, about 8 MPH. A little further north, around Manton and Shingletown, they are currently light and more variable. (Info from PGE weather stations in the area)
Fire was due into Manton at midnight - but got hung up on a two track below South Powerhouse, and you better believe the crews are pouncing on it.
Mineral is safe tonight. Ponderosa Sky Ranch had some good iron work it sounded like and fire has not reached there yet either.
Looking at the weather stations, LNF Portable RAWS on Hogsback at Finley Lake got fire front at 447pm. Still ticking.
In Sky Ranch currently on structure protection. We were pulled from base camp back to the line immediate need. I don’t believe any houses in Sky Ranch were impacted, dozer lines around it and AEU strike team is working with crews to fire off around the entire community currently. The firing team is putting on a master class. Clean, quick, and no issues so far. Winds are favorable.
The microwave relay station at the top of Inskip is on a generator as well as the Tehama SO repeater and the lookout tower. There is a Federal repeater site with a generator up there just down from the top on the west side as well as KKRO Air1 run by Everest Communications
Checking for updates to this and the IAP folder now says “use current date QR code for Park IAPs and maps.” Anyone have access to those QR codes and/or a link?
Judging by the Colby Mountain cameras this morning the fire progressed up hwy 32 and the Deer Creek drainage up around Windy Cut and is in the Cub Complex burn of 2008
It’s a little hard to tell - the cam’s been spinning around all night - but it looks to me like the actual fire front hasn’t gotten quite that far down 32 just yet, maybe just getting to Windy Cut area (aka the Transfer). Wind shift today will test the ability to hold 32 from Lomo to Deer Creek. Butte Meadows and Jonesville sweating it out again …
Looks like some improvement in weather/RH today based on IAP. Shows increasing RH and recoveries all week
Waking up to Temp 65 & 55+ RH and no wind in Southern Shasta Cnty = WIN!
TCSO repeaters are down. They were up well after the brunt of the burnover, so hopefully it’s a power issue and not worse.
Surprisingly CMD2 on the fire lookout is solid. The fire crested to the top right near the lookout with flames taller than lookout.
Add Mineral to that too.
Assuming the fire did not reach Shingletown ? I haven’t seen any mention of it
Airtac over the fire. Speaking with OPS, the priority is the Highway 32 corridor. Sounds like the slops over 32 are holding.
Old coworker from the private medic days said, said XSD Alpha got dispatched this morning.
