This isn’t the first time you have said things like this…it’s not realistic whatsoever. The shear amount of fire line to deal with is insane
This…
His summary of the Dixie firing operation explains it pretty well. It’s OK to be optimistic, but we should be also be realistic
Wonder if he knew that this was going to be the last image available for that cam
Mod Note:
Let’s please keep the wild speculation out of the discussion. Unfounded speculation for whatever reason it gets posted helps nobody. Kudos to all of you, who have posted well reasoned responses but let’s please move on now to posting facts and relevant information, keeping in mind that people from all walks of life are seeking as much information as possible and personal opinions and wild unfounded speculation does not help anybody.
Could not have put it better. Thank you.

The fire is 350,012 acres and is now 10% Contained per CAL FIRE
If we look at it objectively today was a good day especially up off the 36 and down along the west side, the northeast section is going to be a struggle when things start heating up again. Fingers crossed all the work that has been accomplished holds.
Still watching a heavy air show on 32 east of Lomo on Flight Radar and hearing lots of tanker rotations from Chico. Any one have any idea what happening there?
Zeke’s commentary on today’s update video regarding the firing ops during the Dixie Fire (55:00+) provides some insight into the aerial hardening efforts this afternoon along the highway 32 flank.
Looks like theyre painting the spi fuel break on humbolt rd
Sounds like a good burn op planned this evening between DP’s 40 to 46, which is roughly 32 at the K Line down to Carpenter Ridge. Lots of work there today. Would take a LOT of pressure off Magalia, Butte Meadows and the High Lakes.
platte and colby cams are back, looks like they already started?
firing ops starting at DP 43,
It was an issue with the generator. The battery bank kept it running for several hours. The generator got starved of oxygen. The TCSO repeaters are back online. The fact the repeater building survived the burn over still amazes me.
Radio traffic indicates the burn near Lomo going very well, good consumption and good depth.
Lots of energy has gone into creating the shaded fuelbreaks they are utilizing for their firing ops. I just wish we were in a situation where we could burn them in the spring or fall, not in the peak of summer.
Any info on the north end IE: Manton and Shingletown? I
Correct, started at DP 45 down towards Carpenter Ridge
Very quiet on that area of the fire today, they even got light sprinkles this morning.
