I think we all saw that coming with the fire in the echo lake basin.
I donât like what Iâm seeing. All of our fears are coming true. Mandatory Evacuation just went out of Christmas Valley and Meyers. If it gets down thereâŚit could go all the way up Pioneer with the winds. On the south end, if they donât burn it off, the Mokelumne drainage is next and the box just got A LOT bigger.
Iâm assuming you mean Pioneer Trail and not the town of Pioneer.
Agree with the potential should it get into the basin. Angora Fire scar wonât provide much of a buffer.
Yes. Pioneer Trail. Sorry. The winds shift out of the south there on the 89 and often along the east side running up Tahoe. A local retired chief tells me this is his worry if it gets into Meyers that it could go all the way up.
One big concern I have about fire getting into South and North Upper Truckee area is how a lot of the streets run parallel to the topography. During Angora Fire, the gaps in the forest where the streets were acted as âurban canyonsâ and carried prevailing winds and fire straight up the blocks, burning house to house as an urban conflagration. Here are some pics I took back in 2006 after Angora.
I agree and you make a very good observation and I think you are spot on. Conflagration is exactly what will happen and if the winds keep upâŚit wonât be a good scenario. I would like to see them add more warnings NOW.
Fire now on west side of Leek Springs Lookout site. Torching visible on the camera.
I see two scanners , both have air freqs being monitored but not sure if commands are ? Any one know ?
I was looking at that for a few minutes. Yes, they zoomed around and there were a couple spots there.
that was me zooming in, looks like a spot fire
How far has the fire progressed to the east on Hwy 50?
Caldor Fire Ops does have command, but it is not priority. Air ops will over ride it. Also, it had so much static on it today, I switched to El Dorado County Fire Ops. Also reprogrammed my hand held to Command, but didnt get much.
I believe it is below Talking Mountain, West of Echo Lake, rather than below Flagpole. Simulated view for comparison:

Yes, that looks correct
